Valley Politics October 2022: Matt Mahan & Cindy Chavez, Candidates for Mayor of San Jose Cindy Chavez and Matt Mahan, the top two of seven candidates for mayor of San Jose in the June primary election, face off on Valley Politics as the November runoff election approaches. We ask them what they’d do differently to address homelessness and how they’d revive city services by filling hundreds of current vacancies in city staffing as well as their views on representation for the city’s large AAPI community, engaging citizens in the city council’s decision making process and equity in access to parks and other city services. And we also got one-word answers in our lightning round on some controversial issues like closing Reid-Hillview airport, reproductive freedom, requiring liability insurance for gun owners and whether they’d rather be mayor of Gotham, South Park or Mayberry.
