Nora Campos and Peter Ortiz, the top two of five candidates for San Jose City Council District 5 in the June primary election, face off on Valley Politics as the November runoff election approaches. Both are progressives, so on the assumption that both would vote with the current progressive council members, we asked them what difference it would make which one wins. We also asked about homelessness, displacement of D5 residents and small businesses, representing D5’s growing Vietnamese community, respecting community priorities in the Alum Rock Urban Village and more, including a lightning round in which they choose between Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune and tell us which D5 bakery is their favorite. D5 resident Jose Villareal, Jewell Buchanan of Alum Rock Urban Village Advocates (ARUVA) and Somos Mayfair activist Leticia Estancia join us with questions for the candidates.
